Cast in brass with a clapper attached to its inside, the Eroded Bell bears motifs of the Hindu Monkey and Eagle Gods. Bells of this form are usually adorned with brass figures of deities and used in worship. It makes a high-pitched tinkling sound when rung and is specially crafted to produce the long strains of the sound ‘Aum’.

The bearings of time are reflected in the surface of the bell, where the figures can only be partially seen and the motifs have lost their crisp edges.

The ringing of the Eroded Bell is a way to disengage the busy, wandering mind from its current activities and draw attention to the present moment – like dinner time.
